For pain relief
In case of long-term pain or chronic pain, you can alternate between cold and heat to obtain pain relief, e.g. in case of osteoarthritis, neck stiffness, migraines. The cold causes the blood vessels to contract and reduces the sensitivity of the pain receptors, while the heat increases elasticity, dilates the blood vessels and increases the oxygen supply to the muscle.
Cool the body part for about 10 minutes and then apply heat for 10 minutes, repeat 2-3 times/day.
More uses
COLD: For sprains, strains, overexertion, minor injuries, back pain and inflammation.
HEAT: Before/after exercise, stiff muscles, general stomach pain, muscle pain, headache or muscular fatigue.
Use and cleaning
Your Ergostone can be heated in different ways:
MICROWAVE OVEN
2-4 minutes at full power
OVEN
10-15 minutes at between 100-150 degrees.
WATER
5-10 minutes in boiling water.
If you want it cold, put it in the freezer for at least 1 hour.
CLEANING
Soap and water or disinfectant.
At the foot of Storulvån in Jämtland, Ergostone produces products designed to increase people's well-being. The soapstone left behind at Handöl's disused quarry is taken care of and ground down to a fine sand. The mineral has very good thermal properties, which gives the products their heating and cooling properties. The high density of the sand means that the product embraces the body like a warm hug. The silicone that surrounds the sand is very elastic and easy to clean.
Their production is based in Handöl, where they want to create hope and help rebuild a depopulated part of Sweden.
The legacy of soapstone mining in Handöl in Jämtland stretches back to the 16th century
A local production of soapstone into household items, ranging from pots to stoves, has been going on in Handöl for over 500 years. For the past 100 years, this industry has been the main source of income for the residents of the area. In 2013, production ceased when the soapstone factory was closed, which has led to a large depopulation of the town.
