About the product

Karakoram Prime-X

Low weight for long climbs. Power and precision when it’s time to ride. The Karakoram Prime-X is a splitboard binding for riders seeking bigger lines and more from every metre of elevation.

A CNC-machined 7000-series aluminium chassis combines with Carbon Nyolite components to deliver high strength at low weight. Aluminium and titanium screws, along with hollow titanium pins, reduce weight even further. The open chassis lets the binding move with your board’s natural flex for a fluid feel underfoot.

The C4 Carbon highback features a stiffer lower section for support and leverage through turns, while the more flexible upper section adds touring comfort and room to tweak. Active Joining locks the binding to the board without play, delivering immediate response when you engage your edge.

  • CNC-machined aluminium chassis: Strong, lightweight construction in 7075-T6 aluminium.

  • C4 Carbon highback: Powerful support down low with a more forgiving flex up top.

  • Lightweight hardware: Aluminium and titanium screws with hollow Grade 5 titanium pins.

  • Active Joining: A play-free connection for direct power transfer and precise edge control.

  • Included: Bindings and Interface Kit with Ride Mode 3.0, Tour Mode and DualSpeed Riser with Heel-Lock.

  • For solid snowboards: Add Quiver-Connectors, sold separately.

Technology

Binding technology

  • Carbon Nyolite highback with the X mark on the Prime-X, seen from behind.

    C4 Carbon Highback

The shape of Karakoram’s Reactive Highback in lighter, slightly stiffer Carbon Nyolite. Flex 8/10 on Karakoram’s scale.

  • Aluminium and titanium screws and pins on the binding.

    Ti and Al Hardware

Screws in anodised 7075-T6 aluminium or grade 5 titanium and hollow titanium pins, to save weight.

  • Ankle strap with separate pressure pods.

    AirPod Strap

Ankle strap with independent pressure pods that shape to the boot and reduce pressure and pinch points. Made from P-Lite TPE.

  • Buckles and straps on a snowboard binding, close-up.

    Carbon Buckles

Buckles made from recycled carbon fibre that would otherwise go to landfill. Light and durable.

  • Heelcup with a high outside and lower inside sidewall.

    Asymmetric Heelcup

A higher outside sidewall for edge power when touring, and a lower inside wall so you can drop your knee into the turn or tweak a grab.

  • Open aluminium chassis on a splitboard binding, seen from below.

    7075-T6 Open Chassis

An open chassis machined entirely from 7075-T6 aluminium. The binding follows the board’s natural twist, with no dead spots underfoot.

Downhill – Ride Mode

  • Active Joining

The binding slides on loosely, and closing the lever locks it to the board with no play, for a direct connection when you set an edge.

  • Ride Mode 3.0 interfaces mounted on the splitboard halves.

    Ride Mode 3.0

The ride-mode interfaces are composite, with material only where it is needed for strength at low weight.

Uphill – Tour Mode

  • Tour Mode

The touring bracket pivots on a fixed through axle for a stable, smooth stride. Snow clears as you step in, and the bracket releases quickly at transitions.

  • DualSpeed Riser

Climbing risers in two heights, flipped up and down with your pole basket.

  • Heel-Lock

Lock your heel to the board on the way up without stepping out. The lock folds away when not needed.
